Analysis

So you’re blitzing, but it hasn’t worked out perfectly yet. Your roll of 65 now gives you various options - do you continue the blitz, or switch plans?

If you continue the blitz is your best move 13/2*? (bringing one more checker into the zone, but leaving a blot in your home board)

If you’re going to switch plans, then 24/18 13/8 is surely best - securing your 8pt while starting to run your final checker. You have a stronger board and White has a home board blot, so you’re not too worried about being hit.

But - your main strength here is your blitz structure, while your main weakness is the lack of ammunition. You really want 10 checkers in the zone to be blitzing, and you’d rather not leave homeboard blots. How to solve those challenges?

The answer is 13/7 13/8! Bringing two extra checkers into the zone, duplicating White’s 3’s, and putting a lot of pressure on White to perform. You’re also unstacking your heavy mid-point, which is nice. This move wins slightly fewer games than 24/18 13/8, but more than makes up for it with the extra gammons.
