Analysis
The 5pt is the 5pt, and this roll allows you to make it and either make the 10pt as well or bring builders down. But hitting White’s blot can’t be bad either - you have equal strength boards (White has a better forward structure, but hasn’t moved their back checkers). So which is it.
It turns out the hit is clearly right - you run your last checker, gain in the race, and threaten in the outfield. In contrast while making the 5pt is always nice, you don’t have much in the way of a strong follow-up.
In general a position with dynamic potential will often be better than one with a static structural advantage. 24/15* 14/11Â is the answer here.
