Another new board and a podcast

In last week's blog I featured a couple of new boards that have been on show at club nights recently and so to continue that theme, here's Gavin's really lovely new roll-up board from Alan Masters. Tom unfortunately showed no deference to the newness or beauty of the board, beating Gavin and winning this week's £20 Swiss.

Congratulations to him and to Yas and Henry who won the other two Swiss tournaments that we played. Thanks to everyone who came out to play.

As an idle aside, anyone else notice that Gavin seems to be wearing the wallpaper and Chris the banquette? Colour coordination is such an important part of backgammon and..... well, I'll leave you to form your own view on how these two fine players of the game are doing on that front.

And now for something completely different. We all use it each week we come to play at BGiE and collectively the club has over 300 completed tournaments saved on it. Yes, I'm talking about Backgammon Hub, which is central to how we manage our club nights.

So it's fantastic to see that Alfie Kirkpatrick, great friend of BGiE and creator of Hub, is the subject of this month's 'Over the Board' podcast. In the interview Alfie explains how it all started and what the future holds for Hub - it's worth a listen.

Next Monday is Bank Holiday - and the backgammon continues regardless. Sign up now and see you there!
