Ealing does better v Wanstead in the return fixture, but....

We still didn't win. After the first round of matches we were up 5-1, after round 2 we were up 8-4, needing just 2 wins in the last round to take the overall victory.

Nearly snatching the proverbial from victory's jaws, we only managed 1 win in the last round, to end in a 9-9 draw. There's always next time....

Congratulations go to Andrew Ankrah for winning all 3 of his matches, balancing out Mihail Popa's generosity to the opposition.

Thanks to Pete Daly and his gang for hosting us at their very pleasant venue, The Duke, in Wanstead. We will certainly be returning for more!

Meanwhile, at the same time on Monday evening, back at The Grange there were another 20 players battling it out in 2 Swiss and a knockout. Congratulations to Martin Sher and Yas Turan on emerging victorious in their Swiss tournaments. The final of the knockout between Nick Sandqvist and Tariq Siddiqi will be completed next Monday. Thanks to everyone that turned out to play.

It was great to see some new faces and some faces that haven't been for a while. The autumn season is well and truly kicking in and with only 10 weeks of play left this year (we finish on 27 November) there is still a lot to play for. We hope to see you one evening soon.
