Our 1 day tournament a couple of weekends ago resulted in two really deserving winners - Tom O'Connor (pictured on the right in the background) playing the main final against Steve John, and Henry Keane (left foreground) playing the consolation final against Larry Smyth.
Big congratulations to Tom and Henry, commiserations to the runners up and thanks to everyone who turned out to play in what turned out to be our best 1 day tournament ever.
Such was the clamour for more of this tournament format, and as announced in our plans for 2025, we will be running two 1 day tournaments next year. We can now reveal these dates to be Saturday 15 March and Saturday 22 November. Entries for the March tournament will open this side of Christmas - you will have to be quick to book your spot if the last one is anything to go by - it sold out in under 24 hours!
Meanwhile, this Monday saw a new attendance record set for a regular club night with 32 players playing in four Swiss tournaments. It was particularly pleasing to welcome 6 lady players (Valérie, Yas, Merzad, Gulcin, Roubina and Anna) and 3 players new to the club (Rudy, Ian and Paul.) The tournament winners this week were Rob Breen, Petar Vidovic, Sion Edwards and Roubina Deravanessian. Thanks to everyone who helped make it a record-breaking week - see all the results here!
We do still have 3 more club nights this year, so we look forward to seeing you again next week. You can sign up now at this link
