This year's winner of the Ealing Cup is Can Cag, pictured receiving his trophy on Monday this week. He also won £210, with £90 going to Farzin Yazdi as runner up. Not bad for a tournament that has no entry fees! Watch out for the 2026 edition which will start in January.
Ealing players also had great results at the UK Open a couple of weeks ago. Demonstrating the club's strength in depth, three of the last 16 in the intermediates were from Ealing - Emin, Chris and Henry. That's nearly 20% of the seats taken by Ealing!

And when we get onto trophies, brothers Tom and Steve O'Connor won the doubles tournament for the second year on the trot - a remarkable feat. Mike Ireland was also one half of the losing team in the doubles final.
Other trophy winners were Mihail Popa in the speedgammon and Gavin Anderson who won the Masters Grange Cup.
Lastly, but certainly not least, Anna Price won a consolation tournament which didn't have a trophy, but there was some prize money, so it wasn't all bad. If you haven't already read the recent article about the legend that is Anna Price on the UKBGF website, do so now!
Congratulations to all the winners - well deserved!
And just when you thought there couldn't be more trophies - the Ealing Autumn Tournament to be held on 22 November opens for registrations at 10 am tomorrow morning. Set your alarms now to stand a chance of snaring one of the 32 places. The link to sign up will be posted in the Ealing backgammon community whatsapp group. The Spring Tournament this year sold out in 40 minutes - you have been warned!

Congratulations everyone! It’s a great article about Anna, saw it last week, worth a read!
